“Last year, a total of 243 children were supported through the MAF Paediatric AIDS Fund through generous donations from the public. This year, I hope with Standard Chartered’s contribution, we are able to touch over 300 children across Malaysia. It is also our hope that more corporate citizens will look upon you as a role model and rally in our fight to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Together, we can work towards achieving our aim of creating an environment free from prejudice and stigma.” said Professor Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Chairman of Malaysian AIDS Foundation

We are pleased to announce that a new Executive Committee was appointed at the recent Biennial General Meeting held on 31st May 2008 at The Regency Kuala Lumpur.

Congratulations to Prof Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman who was reappointed as the President of Malaysian AIDS Council. This is Prof Dr. Adeeba's second term as President and she has overseen significant growth in the council over this period.

The Mercedes-Benz Red Ribbon Media Awards is coming our way in October this year. Once again, writers, reporters, journalists, performers and artistes will be vying for the awards given out in recognition of journalistic and creative excellence relating to HIV/AIDS in their respective fields.

First introduced by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation in 1996, the awards are part of its effort to acknowledge and honour the vital role played by the media in HIV/AIDS education.

The Malaysian AIDS Foundation is again holding the biennial Dr Siti Hasmah Award this year in recognition of outstanding contributions made by organisations and individuals in addressing HIV/AIDS in Malaysia.

Recognising excellence and long-term commitment to work having a direct impact on HIV/AIDS, the award is an invaluable avenue to celebrate and
encourage more organisations and individuals to be more proactive, creative and committed in their response to HIV/AIDS.

The annual International AIDS Memorial Day (IAMD), also known as the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (IACM), is the largest and oldest grassroots mobilisation campaign to enhance HIV/AIDS awareness in the world, according to the Global Health Council which co-ordinates the event worldwide. This year marks the 25th year of the event worldwide.
