Maybank Berhad, Malaysia’s largest bank and financial group, partnered the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) for the fourth consecutive year on Maybank Treats Fair 2014.
Held over four days between 19 and 22 June 2014 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre Kuala Lumpur, the annual large-scale Treats Point redemption carnival offered Maybank cardholders the opportunity to redeem their Treats Points for valuable items at greatly discounted price, or bid for selective items through auctions using their Treats Points as currency.
This year’s event also coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Maybank Treats Fair.
As the sole charity partner, MAF was given the chance to raise funds through sales of exclusive merchandise items which were made by redemption of Treats Points. Meanwhile proceeds from charity auctions were channelled to MAF’s Treatment, Care and Support Programme for underprivileged people living with HIV.
MAF Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporters joined in on the excitement – Najwa Latif, Dayang Nurfaizah, Bob Yusof and Hafiz Hamidun entertained the crowd with their musical performances, while Fahrin Ahmad, Aanantha, Shah Shamshiri and Joey G helped to rouse the crowd for the charity auctions. Aaron Aziz even made a special unscheduled appearance much to the pleasant surprise of his fans to auction off his own jacket that he wore on a TV reality programme for MAF.
Between proceeds from the charity auctions and merchandise sales, MAF was able to raise more than RM100,000 – the highest it has ever raised thus far!
It is hoped that the Maybank – MAF partnership will continue to flourish in the years to come, and lead to greater opportunities to raise much-needed funds for MAF as well as increase public awareness of HIV.
